The sensor is not working

1st - point the remote at your camera and push any button. If you see the light, it is working and the issue is the TV sensor.

2nd - if no light, replace batteries.

3rd - if no light, you can try to disassemble and find an open circuit or defective part, but without a schematic it would be difficult.

4th - replace remote

• Try replacing the batteries in the remote with new ones and see if it works OK.
• If it is still not working, use the camera app in a mobile phone or a digital camera to help find out what's wrong.

Open the phone's camera app (or turn on the digital camera) and then point the end of the remote that is usually pointed towards the device e.g. TV or stereo unit etc so that it can be seen in the phone's or camera's display screen. Press any button on the remote and check if you can see a light shining at the end of the remote when looking at it on the screen.

Try a few different buttons on the remote as usually the Power, Volume Up/Down and Ch Up/Down buttons may fail due to the contact surface of the button either being dirty or worn out.

• If some buttons work and others don't open the remote and gently clean the board using a Q-Tip slightly dampened with Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ and check if all the buttons work.

If some still work and others don't you may have to try fixing the faulty buttons by using remote control button pads (examples only).

• If no buttons work at all, check that power is getting from the batteries to the board and not that the battery contacts are corroded etc or there's a broken connection. Also check for any damage to the board as well.
