As the device base is firmly clipped, insert two metal spudgers to gently release the first clips.
-
-
-
Use a philips screwdriver to remove the 5 screws securing the metal heat sink. On Rev A (A1469) you need a T7 srewdriver
-
-
-
Disconnect the power supply connector from the logic board with a spudger.
Below the power supply connector is another small 2 pin connector which must be removed as well (I just do not know how), else the board cannot be lifted. On the second picture it is already removed, so here is clearly a step missing here.

-
-
Before you remove completely the power supply, unscrew the T5 screws on each side of the socket.
-
You may now be able to remove the power supply with a spudger.
-
The rating of the power supply is 3.4V at 1.75A, which is identical to the 2nd Gen Apple TV's 5.95 watts.

Successfully sourced a new power supply for our 3rd generation after the last one was destroyed ironically by Apple juice. Sourced from China and replaced- presto!! It's working- all for $14.95
Where? I need on badly! Can you send me / Post here a link?
Hi, i have a 3rd gen Apple TV and I have problems with it, it doesn't turn on I don't now if it's the power supply or it is &&^&@@ up how can I figure out if it is the power supply and in that case where can I found one
I Olson have a Apple TV box an older version how can I test if it is working
In case the LED light does not glow even after restoring by remote or iTune then problem is with SMPS unit. Get a new SMPS unit and replace it yourself !
Where can we buy the Power supply?
search for OT9031 from ACBEL POLYTECH or 614-0482 from Apple.

I got a power supply for around 13 AUD from luckily a ebay seller from china. The swap out is very easy on this gen 3 version. Would be good if anyone has info on the 8 pin output voltages and a schematic of it so in future everyone could diagnose properly if in deed a power supply failure with a multimeter. I took a cheap gamble and it worked.
where so i find a new base to replace it with
