3 Why did my S9700 turn off by itself?
I was using my Nikon CoolPix S9700 when all of a sudden, it shut itself off. I did not press any buttons or unplug anything.
What is going on?

The S9700 will turn itself off to save the battery, when it sits inactive for a period of time. Also check the battery, the S9700 will turn itself off if the battery is dead.

When I enable the flash it will pop the flash and the camera will turn itself off. I leave the flash popped up and turn the camera on again, it works with the flash. When the flash is diabled I can take pictures without any issues.
