Camera won't turn on

No matter what you do, the camera won't turn on.

Drained/bad battery

If your camera won't turn on, especially if it has not been used recently, you may simply have a drained battery. Charge your battery by first removing it (see battery installation guide) from the camera and then load it into the battery charger. Ideally, if it's a drained battery, the camera should turn on after charging the battery for a few minutes. If the camera still fails to turn on, then a replacement battery must be used.

Bad mother board

Ultimately, if the problem does not lie with the battery, the motherboard will probably need to be replaced(see motherboard installation guide). Check by seeing if all connections and wiring are properly connected.

Unable to see anything on the LCD screen

No images or blurry images appear on the LCD screen while camera is on.

The LCD screen is black

If the LCD screen is black and knowing that the camera is on by the electrical or mechanical sounds it makes, then the problem may either be a broken LCD screen or an image sensory problem. See guide on how to replace LCD screen or to replace the CCD to fix the sensory problem.

Image and colors are coming out unrealistic

If the pictures are coming out with the wrong or non-correlating colors then it might be due to a white balance settings issue. To change the white balance settings; first press MENU, Select [WB] (White Bal) with left and right scrolling buttons, then select desired setting with the up and down scrolling buttons.

LCD screen is cracked

The crack on the LCD screen makes it very difficult to view images and would require a replacement to solve issue. See guide on how to replace the LCD screen.

Problems with images

Images are not coming out as desired.

Images are coming out too dim

Dim images are mainly due to taking pictures with no flash in a dim environment. Usually flash setting should be set to auto, but if there's no flash then go to setting and manually change flash to "on". If adjusting the flash does not solve this problem, then color settings might need to be adjusted.

Flash not working

If flash settings have been manually changed to "on" and there is still no flash, then a replacement flash bulb will be required. See guide on how to replace flash bulb.

Memory stick error

If the screen displays "MEMORY STICK ERROR" or if it starts with "C:13" then it is due to some kind of memory card reading error. First try to take it out and reinsert it to make sure that it is inserted correctly. If the problem persists then the memory stick is probably not compatible with the camera and you need to get a new one.

To make sure that you get the correct memory card we recommend using the Memory Stick Pro Duo which is compatible.
