Press the “reset” button on the side of the tablet, next to the volume controls, with a small, pointed object. This will close all applications and restart the device.

Connection needs to be reconfigured

The device comes with an application called “Wi-Fi Checker” that will analyze the connection and report steps for the user to follow in order to sort out the issue.

Wi-Fi antenna needs to be replaced.

If the above steps do not solve the Wi-Fi issue then the problem may be hardware related and the Wi-Fi Antenna could need replacing. Use this guide to replace the Wi-Fi antenna.

Screen not responding to touch

Screen is not responding to touch, or is responding inaccurately.

Screen needs to be cleaned

Wipe screen with a microfiber cloth and cleaning solution if available.

Device needs a soft reset

Press the “reset” button on the side of the tablet, next to the volume controls, with a small, pointed object. This will close all applications and restart the device.

Device is getting too hot

Using the device while connected to power can sometimes generate enough heat to disorient the touchscreen. If the device feels warm to the touch especially near the screen, unplug the charger and wait a few minutes. If the problem persists, see Overheating and/or unexpected shutdown.

Screen needs to be calibrated

Obtain the Touchscreen Calibration application from the Google Play Store app and use it to calibrate the touch screen. This should improve the screen’s ability to accurately detect touches.

Screen needs to be replaced

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, then the screen may need to be replaced. Heat gun is required for replacement.

Will not charge

The device does not indicate it is charging while the power adapter is connected.

Debris in the charging port

If the device does not indicate it is charging while connected to power, the connector may not be completely seated in the charging port. Inspect the device’s charging port, which is located on the bottom left side if looking at the screen, using a flashlight and/or magnifying glass. If the metal contacts appear dirty, clean them with a cotton-swab with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Do the same if the contacts on the cable appear dirty. If there is debris in the charging port, use a pair of needle-nose tweezers to remove it. Ensure that you dispel any electrostatic discharge you may have built up on your body prior to using metal tweezers to avoid damaging the device.

Power adapter is faulty

Inspect the power adapter cable and make sure it is free of any breaks or fraying. If fraying is present, stop using the cable and order a new one from the manufacturer. Ensure that the cable is connected to a working power outlet directly from the wall. If you have another power adapter available, use it instead. Even if the cable appears undamaged, it may still be faulty, especially if it is not a power adapter made by the original manufacturer. Continuing to use a faulty power adapter can cause internal damage to the device.

Charging connector needs to be replaced

If the above steps do not solve the issue, then the charging connector needs to be replaced. Use this guide to replace the charging connector

Overheating and/or unexpected shutdown

Unexpected shut down due to overheating.

Overheating after prolonged use

If the device suddenly shuts down and feels hot, the device is either being used for too long or is in a hot environment. Shut down the device for at least an hour, or until it feels cool to the touch. If the problem persists even after only a few minutes of use in a moderately cool environment, immediately discontinue use as there may be a problem with the battery. You can use this guide to replace it.

Overheating due to charger

It is normal for the device to feel warm while or after charging. However, if the device is uncomfortably hot, shut it down, disconnect the charger, and wait for the device to cool. If the problem persists even after only a few minutes of use in a moderately cool environment, immediately discontinue use as there may be a problem with the battery. You can use this guide to replace it.

Battery is faulty

Unusual heating may indicate that the battery needs to be replaced. If you experience excessive heat after only a few minutes of use, immediately discontinue use as there may be a problem with the battery. You can use this guide to replace it.

Will not turn on

The device does not turn on when the power button is pressed.

Battery is not charged

If the device does not turn on, ensure that the battery is charged by connecting the power adapter to the unit and a working power outlet and wait at least 20 minutes before pressing the power button again. If this does not resolve the issue, see Will not charge. If the device turns on after the battery has been charged but immediately shuts down after the power adapter is disconnected, there may be a problem with the battery. You can use this guide to replace it.

Device is frozen

If the device does not display anything on the screen but appears as if it may still be on, it may need to be reset. Connect the device to the power adapter and wait at least 20 minutes. If the device does not either turn on automatically, or turn on when the power button is pressed, press the “reset” button on the side of the tablet, next to the volume controls, with a small, pointed object. The Sony logo should appear on the screen and the device should reboot. If nothing is shown on the screen, there may be a hardware issue with the device.
