  • Hard Drive: The Titanium Onyx uses hard drives with an ATA connector, ranging from 2 to 160 GB and from 4200 to 7200 RPM. If you install a hard drive with a capacity over 128 GB, you will need to partition the drive into at least two partitions so that no single partition exceeds 128 GB. With our tools and instructions, you can install your new hard drive yourself!
  • Optical Drive: Apple shipped some Titanium Onyx machines with a DVD drive, others with a CD-RW drive, and others with a Combo drive. Those machines with CD-RW or Combo drives can be easily upgraded using standard laptop optical drives. When upgrading from a CD-RW or Combo drive, you can install either a 24x combo drive or 8x SuperDrive. If you're sure you don't need to burn DVDs, a combo drive will suffice, while the SuperDrive will allow you to burn DVDs as well as CDs. If your machine has a DVD drive, you'll need a special bracket to allow you to mount your new optical drive in your PowerBook.
